House hacking is where you buy a primary residence, live at the property, and rent out part of it to tenants. It's a great way to get into real estate investing. But, it's not for everyone. House hacking is a great way to build long-term wealth with very little money down (typically 3.5% to 5%). You have the potential to own a property and live there for free by having your tenants pay your mortgage.
